34th PhilRootcrops Anniversary

The PhilRootcrops celebrated its 34th year last Monday & Tuesday (March 21-22, 2011). I feel so lucky to be a part of the fun, feast and celebration that occurred the whole week. Everybody at the Center was so busy but on a festive mood nonetheless. Monday was the Opening Day. We all donned our  Filipiñana costumes during the opening program Monday morning. Kids from VFES and Baybay South visited and participated during the "Rootcrops Rock" held that afternoon. It was an educating event for the kids aimed to introduce rootcrops through exhibits, games, lectures and product taste testing. :)

A dinner was held at the CCE on Monday night.
Mary, Lot lot,ate Fe, ate Mich and I performed that night (so embarrassing, i must say! haha). It was a night filled with laughter and food. Plus we got to dress up. :)
Activities went on until Tuesday and by Friday, a family day was held for everyone working at PhilRootcrops.   The party started at about 10am and continued until late that evening. The day was filled with scattered rain but it wasn't enough to dampen our spirits. Everyone was all game for the activities we prepared.

It was held at the Seafront Suite overlooking the VSU beach.
Fun seeing everyone dance. Others really have some weird funny steps. haha :)
Yummy lechon!
Games. Videoke. Food.
Took a lot of pictures inside the seafront suite.
Cable tv. Watched american idol eliminations night and a replay of the Azkals game against Myanmar.
it's not everyday you get to go inside it so we settled ourselves inside comfortably. haha! :)
All in all, the whole celebration was a blast. Can't wait for next year. Wonder what's in store for us then. Looking forward! :)

A Night In Paris

A Night In Paris -- that's the theme for VSULHS's JS Promenade this year. Since it's my sister's first prom, I attended the event together with Mama and Alma to support her (charmus) and to witness all the many gals & guys dressed up with their gowns and suits. Angelica received the Mirror of Goodwill & Charm and was named Miss Gorgeous that night. :D

The event was held at the VSU gymnatorium. I remember ours, not too long ago, was held at the Convention Center (actually that was years ago).
Mama, Alma and I seated at the bleachers along with other parents watching their sons & daughters that night.
Angelica (one with sash) with her circle of friends.
Winning the Miss Gorgeous award. haha!
Angelica, Helix & Nikki.
i'm a proud ate! dalaga na kapatid ko. congratulations gelic! :)

At work in the laboratory, I had no idea whatsoever about the earthquake in Japan if not for one of my friends who texted me to keep watch since our place is on tsunami alert # 1 (daw). I came home and the news was all about the tragic event. I logged on to twitter and all I can read about was tweets about Japan and prayers for the safety of the victims.

@ (Cesca Litton) :
"God never forsakes, only teaches. We just have to be willing to learn and trust in His plan."
@ (Luis Manzano) :
"Just when we think we have big problems, God never fails to show us that the world doesn't revolve around us and things could be much worse."

In times like this, we can only turn to God for our safety. Thoughts and prayers to the people in Japan. :/

Taylor Swift-Enchanted Lyrics on Screen

Loving this song by Taylor Swift.

Here I was again tonight forcing laughter, faking smiles
Same old tired, lonely place
Walls of insincerity
Shifiting eyes and vacancy vanished when I saw your face
All I can say is it was enchanting to meet you

Your eyes whispered "have we met?"
Across the room your silhouette starts to make it's way to me
The playful conversation starts
Counter all your quick remarks like passing notes in secrecy
And it was enchanting to meet you
All I can say is I was enchanted to meet you

This night is sparkling, don't you let it go
I'm wonderstruck, blushing all the way home
I'll spend forever wondering if you knew
I was enchanted to meet you

Bumps, Bat and Bruises

Been very busy at work lately. Overtime every now & then. But you won't hear me complain! Thank God for giving me a job. :)

Anyways, lemme share a funny scenario which happened one time at our laboratory while we were busy and already doing overtime. 'Twas about 8 pm. Mary was busy going about her work when i suddenly noticed something move at one of the windows in the lab. At first i thought it was a rat, but turned out to be a bat, a small one for that matter. we didn't pay much attention to it at first. but when may ann took a closer look, the bat suddenly flew around the lab making everyone (Me, Mary & Inish) freak out. One (i won't say it was Inish) slid to the floor while trying to stay away from the bat. After flying around, the bat decided to land near the door to our isolation room! So basically, it was blocking our way (though not literally). Mary got burned while holding a tray of hot petri plates (fresh from the oven) and at the same time trying to ward off the bat from where it landed near the entrance. Luckily the bat flew to the direction of the door and landed just outside the laboratory. It stayed outside for quite some time that we were able to take snapshots of it. It was such a funny scene trying to stay away from the bat while it flew around the lab and over our heads.

Here he is! Meet Mr. Bat,
