August Rush (a super late blog post)

From where I am in the world, August is prolly the most anticipated month of the year next to December which is of course Christmas season and MY favorite month of the year. Our university celebrates its anniversary annually every August and it usually comes with a week-long list of activities. Colorful booths and bazaars selling various items are put up every year. It’s an enjoyable experience especially when you spend it with your closest friends. This year, I wasn’t too eager for the anniversary to come since it’s the first time in years that we’ll be spending it with only a few friends around. What with most of them already out of the university and busy with their jobs now, the idea of anniversary really was not something I was very enthusiastic about.
But just as I was about to end up busying myself with work, something occurred. I’ll leave you guessing at this point though. J
Anyways, posted below are photos taken during our hangouts and night outs and all the outings we had throughout the entire week. Credits to whoever owns the camera used for taking the pictures. Haha! J

with Ansci friends. Like like like! J
with Tina, Miri and Anadel – whose friendship renders them to remain kids at heart. Sama na rin ako dyan! J
Hanging out in the oval. Went home at around 2am and had to report for work at 7am! – Not complaining; all for fun nonetheless.

with mah Kaki girls minus Jaja, Vestra and Praissie plus dearest Dianne

The moment we were able to FINALLY watch the Rodeo after living near VSU for almost our whole lives and not seeing a single show up until this time. #proudofmyself

Didn’t miss the chance to take a shot in front of all these roots and tubers! J

That pretty much sums up all there is to share. I made new friends and then suddenly my 2011 anniversary got a little bit, ah-hmmm.. interesting! LOL!

"Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you." -- [Exodus 20:12]

I have an excellent father, his strength is making me stronger....

... I know you were on my side even when I was wrong And I love you for giving me your eyes.. For staying back and watching me shine.. And I didn't know if you knew, so I'm takin' this chance to say that I had the best days with you... (the best days-taylor swift)

Happy Father's Day Papa! ♥ ♥ ♥

Last Minute Summer Outing :)

Classes this year started as early as June 6 but that didn't stop us from making the most out of this year's summer. Me and my co-workers (Mary, Inish, ate Zeny & Ma'am Julie) in the laboratory together with some other friends went on a summer outing -- "huling hirit sa tag-init". It was an easy trip since we got a car to drive us around (thx to sir Jojo). I want to own a car someday since i really think it makes life easier especially when you go out on trips. :)
Our trip was all in Southern Leyte. We went back to Agas-agas bridge to let the others try the zipline since we already previously did it. I would've tried it again if only i budgeted for it but i did not so...lol! Anyways, after a quick stop-over at Agas-agas we went straight to Hindag-an Falls located at St. Bernard Southern Leyte and had our lunch there. The resort was full of people also enjoying the water falls and the swimming pool. We didn't miss our chance and dipped in as well. It was freakin' cold actually but i enjoyed it nonetheless. Of course, we took photos of our escapade. Here are some (using Mary's camera):

At agas-agas,
the weather was perfect :)
at Hindag-an Falls, St. Bernard So. Leyte,
didn't mind the cold water at all
my first time seeing a water fall... :)

me, vernabelle, inish, mariero and may ann :)
that's me at the center.. lol

at Hinunangan, So. Leyte,
i super enjoyed it here. the beach was very nice and the sand was very fine. perfect for barefooted romantic walks during sunset. lol! <3
we just can't get enough of the waves and of the water!
picture here and there and everywhere! haha..

too bad we didn't get to cross the island (seen in the picture above). original plan was to spend the night there but it changed for some important matters. oh well, there's still a next time. i would  definitely want to go back there. :) i had a blast! and that's it for Summer 2011. xoxo

Fearless? :)

Saturday (May 21), i was busy manning our booth all day that all i could think of was that the next day will be Sunday and i programmed myself not to do anything by that time. Little did i know i won't be getting any break for the rest of that particular weekend. Maru and Verna kept bugging me :) to come with them to Agas-Agas and experience the zip line. I, being a person who's afraid of heights did not plan on going the least bit. I just informed my sister Gelyn of the trip so she can come if ever she decides to since she's the one most eager to try the zip line. The plan was to meet up at Baybay terminal 8:00 in the morning the next day.
Sunday came. I was relaxing in my bed when i suddenly remembered the trip. It was already past 8 am by then. I have no idea what came to me that i suddenly asked Gelyn that we come together to the trip. After a little negotiation with my sister, we finally texted Verna about us coming with them. Long story short, we went with Maru, Verna, ate Jihan, kuya Adrian, Dariel and Darlene to Agas-Agas, ziplined for 280 meters long and had the most exhilirating, scary, and thrilling 45 seconds of our lives so far! :) i can't believe i was able to muster the guts to do that. Guess i'm not that scared of heights after all.
Here are some photos taken during the trip (from Dariel and ate Jihan's camera)...
it was high! crazy high. looking at it from this point the first time made me double think about trying.
glad i didn't chicken out though. :)
i wasn't feeling a tad bit nervous when i was in this position. #pretendingnot
i'm not good at estimating but the view down from the bridge was really high.

scaredy-cat.. :]
Here comes!
with Darlene, after the flight! haha.
our attempt at a jump shot.(me, Gelyn, Dariel & Vernabelle)
 our mode of transportation. hehe
couldn't get a decent jump shot! nauna man kog landing oi! haha
'tis was after all of us zipped already.

of course, we took pictures at the bridge for remembrance.
with my sister, Gelyn.

The whole experience was priceless for me. The experience of being almost close to flyng was a blast! The breathtakingly beautiful view reminds you of God's gift around us. We are blessed more than we can ever fathom. Plus it was more fun because of the people i went with. Makes me want to go back and try it again. Who wants to come?! :) xoxo

Super Woman

How do you define a super woman? Someone who is talented? Successful? Or perhaps remarkable? Those are just a few descriptions of a super woman. Yes. I believe super women exist. They are all around us and we see them every day. They are with us every time, ready to lend us a helping hand whenever we need it. We even take them for granted at times. I'm most definitely talking about our Mothers (Mom, Mama, Nanay, Mommy or whatever we call them).

Mother dearest.

Oftentimes, we forget the many sacrifices our mothers do for us. It takes a whole lot of skills & "super powers" to be a mom -- at least that's what I believe because I'm not yet even a mother. All I know is that it's never an easy job but it's also the best job there is.

In honor of all the mothers out there, we celebrate "Mother's Day"-- a day that is dedicated to moms alone. That even for just a day, we are given a chance to celebrate and give appreciation for all the goodness they have unconditionally given us all these years in our lives. In fairness to us, we never miss out on greeting Mama a "happy mother's day", though we're not big on celebrating it. That being said, I was wishing we can celebrate it with a small family gathering. Fortunately for us, mother's day and my uncle gene's birthday falls on almost the same date so we are having a "handaan"! :)

Mama & me.

Indeed this day calls for a celebration for countless reasons. For without our mothers, we wouldn't be where we are right now. We prolly won’t be the own persons that we are if our mothers have not been there for us all this time. I can actually call my mom a "super woman" for the same reason that you should call your own moms "super woman" also. I believe that title suits my mom and yours perfectly well! haha! Imagine taking care of all six of us, of course with the help of Papa but still the task was never easy.

Words cannot describe how grateful i am to God for giving me such great parents, with their assets and imperfections altogether. So for this coming "mother's day", let us all greet our moms a happy one.. and better if we give them a hug and a kiss. :)

Happy Mother's day to all the moms out there! :)

xoxo,
bam.

i'm not quite much of a fan of Selena Gomez but i'm loving her song "Who Says". I love the melody of the song as well as the lyrics of it. very empowering and just a feel-good song for me.

I wouldn't wanna be anybody else.

You made me insecure
Told me I wasn’t good enough
But who are you to judge
When you’re a diamond in the rough
I’m sure you got some things
You’d like to change about yourself
But when it comes to me
I wouldn’t want to be anybody else

Na na na
Na na na
I’m no beauty queen
I’m just beautiful me
Na na na
Na na na
You’ve got every right
To a beautiful life
C'mon

[Chorus]
Who says
Who says you’re not perfect
Who says you’re not worth it
Who says you’re the only one that’s hurting
Trust me
That’s the price of beauty
Who says you’re not pretty
Who says you’re not beautiful
Who says

[Selena Gomez - Verse 2]
It’s such a funny thing
How nothing’s funny when it’s you
You tell ‘em what you mean
But they keep whiting out the truth
It’s like a work of art
That never gets to see the light
Keep you beneath the stars
Won’t let you touch the sky

just wonderin'

it’s been weeks now since the last time we (kaki) bonded which was during our “pictorials” and we weren’t even complete then. that’s thanks to the graduation hype that we were able to get back together and spend quality time. now a few weeks later, with rj back to aurora, lala busy with her graduate studies, jaja & me busy with work, praissie cruising the world, princess somewhere in davao and reziel ‘hiding’ in cebu, we barely see each other now. all that being said, i just miss them. LOL! but praissie’s coming home soon. plus lala & i are still based here at dakilang ‘utod’ so i’m looking forward to another bonding time with them. i wonder when we’ll be able to go out again with complete attendance.
our favorite and only place to go to whenever we feel like going out is baybay. most of the time, we go out at night and go home during the wee hours of the morning. hehe. i miss eating  balut. the crazy octopus ride and the scenes we made at the ‘peryahan’! haha. again i wonder what we’ll be doing next. #justwondering

Charice - "One Day" Official Lyric Video

Another sure-fire hit from Charice; co-written and co-produced by Nick Jonas (my fave Jonas brother, lol!). Love the message of the song. xx

Eggstra Special Easter

I consider this year's holy week by far the most memorable yet. Why? i don't know (hehe) but i think it's because i understand clearly its meaning more than ever. the past years, i didn't get to spend it the way i think all of us should. two years ago, i was on the road to GenSan on Holy Thursday for our OJT. Last year? hmmm. it's a shame but i don't even remember anything. maybe it was the hype of graduation that was all in my mind that time. But this year was different. I was able to attend the church activities -- from the Via Crucis to the Easter Mass.
The cross invites us to renew our life. “In every situation of our life” and throughout “world history, God can give us a new life”. Likewise, “the seed of hope for new life is found in death,” said Benedict XVI in his address to Christians tonight at the end of the Way of the Cross...
“Let us focus on the crucified Jesus,” Benedict XVI said. “Brighten our hearts so that we may follow you on the way of the cross; let the old, sinful man in us die; transform us in new men transformed by your love”.  read full report here

I was happy and content by the time it was Easter Sunday already. Rejoice! The Lord has risen from the dead. Happy Easter Sunday everyone! :) xoxo

KAKI

My friends and I (Kaki as we call ourselves) do crazy things together. Just recently, we did a photoshoot at the Molave Hill just so we could satisfy our desire to bond, spend some time together and of course have a good time. And yes! We definitely had a blast!
Molave Hill
Hindi pa kami ready sa lagay na yan! haha. How much more... ;P
Nothing was able to dampen our mood that afternoon. Not even the slight rain that poured before we even arrived at location.
Lying on the grass.
We were actually planning this thing for quite some time now, though it all just started as a joke. But somehow we pulled it off. We got our inspirations from the likes of Anne Curtis, Georgina Wilson, Isabelle Daza, Laureen Uy... including also GG's Blair Waldorf & Serena Van der Woodsen. LOL! Planning to have a Part 2, actually. (hahaha)
Call us "kapal" but who cares? It's all in good fun. ;)

34th PhilRootcrops Anniversary

The PhilRootcrops celebrated its 34th year last Monday & Tuesday (March 21-22, 2011). I feel so lucky to be a part of the fun, feast and celebration that occurred the whole week. Everybody at the Center was so busy but on a festive mood nonetheless. Monday was the Opening Day. We all donned our  Filipiñana costumes during the opening program Monday morning. Kids from VFES and Baybay South visited and participated during the "Rootcrops Rock" held that afternoon. It was an educating event for the kids aimed to introduce rootcrops through exhibits, games, lectures and product taste testing. :)

A dinner was held at the CCE on Monday night.
Mary, Lot lot,ate Fe, ate Mich and I performed that night (so embarrassing, i must say! haha). It was a night filled with laughter and food. Plus we got to dress up. :)
Activities went on until Tuesday and by Friday, a family day was held for everyone working at PhilRootcrops.   The party started at about 10am and continued until late that evening. The day was filled with scattered rain but it wasn't enough to dampen our spirits. Everyone was all game for the activities we prepared.

It was held at the Seafront Suite overlooking the VSU beach.
Fun seeing everyone dance. Others really have some weird funny steps. haha :)
Yummy lechon!
Games. Videoke. Food.
Took a lot of pictures inside the seafront suite.
Cable tv. Watched american idol eliminations night and a replay of the Azkals game against Myanmar.
it's not everyday you get to go inside it so we settled ourselves inside comfortably. haha! :)
All in all, the whole celebration was a blast. Can't wait for next year. Wonder what's in store for us then. Looking forward! :)
