Go Green!

I was successful at my attempt on waking up early to catch the Celtics-Lakers game. Actually, I woke up a bit too early I was able to catch up on the game between the Thunder & Heat but it doesn't matter. It's always better to be early than late, right? haha. Anyways, it was the Celtics & Lakers' first meeting since Game 7 of the 2010 NBA Finals. Just imagine the thrill I felt when I learned that both teams are about to battle it out again.

Back in the 2010 NBA Finals, the Celtics lost during Game 7 to the Lakers making them champions once again. I was rooting for the C's then. So, the fact that they lost was quite a big deal for me. The game between them earlier may not be that important but it's all in good fun, right? It may not be the Finals yet but it sure was a game to watch out for.

Ok, maybe I'm just making a big deal out of this. This is just me expressing my support to the Celts. Let's Go Celtics! :)

Go Green! ;)

Today, my sister is celebrating her 19th birthday!

As you can see in the picture, she's playing soccer 'coz it's like her most favorite sport. She's addicted to it and she's good at it, I think. LOL! She's also good at drawing (mostly anime characters)...

Hmmm, I think that pretty much sums up everything about her. Haha. Just kidding atchie Lyn! :)

I wish you the best of the best this year & for the coming years. Enjoy your day.
Many many happy returns of the day!

Quote of the Day:

"Love is about grand gestures. Love is about airplanes pulling banners over stadiums, proposals on jumbo-trons, giant words in skywriting. Love is about going that extra mile even if it hurts, letting it all hang out there. Love is about finding courage inside of you that you didn't even know was there."

I came across this quote from the movie Little Manhattan while reading Candy Magazine. ;)

i love books...

I just finished the Mary Higgins Clark novel I was reading entitled "The Second Time Around". I've been reading M.H.G novels lately, you can say i'm a fan. :) These are a few of her books i bought and finished reading just recently:

In The Second Time Around, Clark explores the mind of a mass killer with her usual grace and compassion. This time we are introduced to Carly DeCarlo, a financial advice columnist turned investigative reporter, and her quest for the truth about the suspicious disappearance of Nicholas Spencer, the head of medical research company “Gen-stone.” As the facts unravel in what seems to be a predictable con game, Carly slowly finds out that she has become the target of a dangerous group involved in a sinister scheme. The definition of an owl had always pleased him: a night bird of prey...sharp talons and soft plumage which permits noiseless flight...applied figuratively to a person of nocturnal habits. 'I am The Owl', he would whisper to himself after he had selected his prey, 'and nighttime is my time.'"

Jean Sheridan, a college dean and prominent historian, sets out to her hometown to attend the twenty-year reunion of Stonecroft Academy alumni, where she is to be honored along with six other members of her class. There is something uneasy in the air: one woman in the group about to be feted, Alison Kendall, a beautiful, high-powered Hollywood agent, drowned in her pool during an early-morning swim. Alison is the fifth woman in the class whose life has come to a sudden, mysterious end.

Adding to Jean's sense of unease is a taunting, anonymous fax she received, referring to her daughter -- a child she had given up for adoption twenty years ago.

At the award dinner, Jean is introduced to Sam Deegan, a detective obsessed by the unsolved murder of a young woman who may hold the key to the identity of the Stonecroft killer. Jean does not suspect that among the distinguished people she is greeting is The Owl, a murderer nearing the countdown on his mission of vengeance against the Stonecroft women who had mocked and humiliated him, with Jean as his final victim. (click here)

It's always nice to curl up in bed with a good book when it's raining outside.(It's actually raining outside right now.)

How 'bout you? Whose books are you reading lately? :)

Baking.

Cookies are made of butter and love. ~Norwegian Proverb

I enjoy baking. I bake whenever I feel like it. Although I must say I'm not yet that good at it but I really want to get better. That's why I keep on coming up with recipes that are easy to follow so I can enhance my skills. (char)
My so-called attempts don't end up that good sometimes though. haha!

Moving on,

these are the rolled sugar cookies i made a few months back--they actually taste pretty good. (i love my own?! LOL!)
rolled sugar cookies, for me, are actually pretty tiring to make since you have to roll the cookie dough with a rolling pin w/c i find very laborious. haha!
i also tried making raisin oatmeal cookies--but this one lacks cinnamon. I then made another batch with cinnamon in it. Pretty easy to make actually since you basically just mix the ingredients together and drop the mixture on cookie sheets.
I got mixed reviews from my siblings about this one. My brother, Alvin doesn't like it at all while Kuya Aljay, Gelyn & the others said it was good. Well, doesn't matter to me as long as they eat what i bake. hehe..

I enjoy it much when i'm baking for my family because i know they'll eat it even if it doesn't turn out really well. aaww! Not much, but enough to start off with anyway. I hope someday i can attend classes about baking or maybe go to a culinary school (wishful thinking). Then maybe i'll be able to bake for other people as well. :)

I tweeted last night about me starting this blog all because of Bianca Gonzalez whose blogs I really enjoy reading and inspires me much. What I didn't expect was her mentioning me on one of her tweets saying thank you for that little tweet of mine.

Thanks biancs! You really made my 1/7/2011! haha. I mean, what can I say? -- I'm a fan! :)

Year End

Since its Christmas break and we don't get to see each other that often anymore because of work, my friends and I had a sleepover at Rj's place at Ihawan, Baybay. :) Of course we didn't forget to take pictures of ourselves to capture the moments we shared. char!

Here are some:

We took pictures while waiting for the others to arrive. The following pics were taken at Baybay terminal.

Arriving at Rj's home,

We were supposed to have a movie marathon but we started late so we ended up watching just one movie, "Shutter Island".

But of course, more pictures! :)

We filled our tummies with ice cream, chips and softdrinks. Haha! So much for healthy snacks.

Bedtime was at 4 am.

Time flies really fast when you're enjoying the moment. But as one quote says, "Don’t count every hour in the day, make every hour in the day count."

A Prosperous New Year to all! :)
